"Terrible customer service experience!"
I've been a long-time subscriber to Codeanywhere, but I decided to cancel a couple of years ago because of some company policies.
When I tried to sign up again using their credit card form, my payment got declined four times over a few hours. So, I switched to PayPal, and that went through without a hitch.
The next day, I saw that my credit card was charged for all four failed attempts, even though the Codeanywhere dashboard indicated that my account wasn’t activated.
I contacted their support team to explain the situation and ask for a refund, but I got a reply saying, "Your account is activated, what's the issue?" I had to clarify everything again in my follow-up message, and it’s been over ten days without a response.
Now, I’m stuck having to initiate a chargeback and dispute all four charges because of their poor support and system issues. Plus, they’ve lost me as a customer.
I’d recommend steering clear of Codeanywhere; Atom IDE with the Remote Editor plugin is totally free and works like a charm.

"Lack of Support and Refund Issues"
They used to have a solid range of preconfigured setups, or I could easily install whatever I needed on a standard container. Lately, though, the options have become really limited, and the ability to install is pretty much gone. This just isn't cutting it anymore. I thought maybe it was a memory problem, so I upgraded my plan to get a bigger container, but the issue didn't go away.
After just a day, I realized it wasn't going to work out for me, so I shut down my account and asked for a refund on my upgrade fee (which was well within their refund period). They first assured me that a refund was on the way, but when nothing came through, they claimed the person in charge was out for a few days and that it would be sorted soon. Now, nearly a month after the initial charge, I still haven't seen any refund, and they’ve stopped replying to my messages.
Update: Posting on Trustpilot did grab their attention, and I finally got my refund. So, I’ll give them one star for that and five stars for Trustpilot! :)

"Unsatisfactory Customer Support"
I haven't been using CodeAnywhere lately due to some changes in my situation. They don’t send any alerts about upcoming renewals, unlike other companies that usually give you several reminders well in advance.
As soon as I noticed the renewal had gone through, I reached out to them. They did cancel the renewal and the service I was just billed for, but now they’re refusing to give me my money back!
So here I am, without the service I paid for, feeling like they’ve just taken my cash!
[Update: After I posted this, CodeAnywhere finally decided to process the refund! If you find yourself in a similar bind, don’t lose hope—bring attention to your issue, and they might just stop treating customers poorly.]

"Awesome tool, but refund policy stinks"
I've been using Codeanywhere for a long time, but I recently changed jobs and can't use it for work anymore. They didn't send me a payment receipt or even a heads-up about my account renewal, yet they still took the money. I figured it wouldn't be an issue, but their rule is no refunds after a week of setting up the account (not just after paying), and since I've been a customer for years, I'm now out that cash. Really bummed about it.

"Codeanywhere is an awesome service"
Codeanywhere is an awesome service. It lets me work from anywhere without stress. Plus, it's really cool to edit files on my servers using a user-friendly GUI editor instead of logging in via SSH and dealing with a command line editor.

"great for coding while traveling"
Codeanywhere really assists me a ton when I’m coding from various devices throughout the day. The web editor connects through SSH to my server, letting me make code adjustments super fast while I’m on the move. Plus, this editor functions on devices where I can't install an editor or IDE due to permission issues.
Now, the code completion feature could use some improvement, but honestly, it’s not a big deal when I’m just tweaking small sections.

"Long-time User's Take on CodeAnywhere"
I've been using CodeAnywhere for quite a few years now, and I gotta say, I'm really happy with how convenient and stable it is. I run a website that has a bunch of custom PHP scripts, and I can always count on CodeAnywhere to let me edit or fix my scripts no matter where I am—even if I gotta do it on the CodeAnywhere app on my phone! Plus, it's super handy as a testing ground and a place to pick up a new programming language. I definitely recommend it!

"Handy Standalone Containers"
The containers offered by Codeanywhere create a separate development space that I can reach from different devices. The service runs smoothly, allowing me to code on my Chromebook without a hitch. They've rolled out a new editor built on Theia IDE, which works well with Visual Studio Code. Plus, the support crew was quick to reply to my questions and sort out the problems I encountered.

"Awesome for Coding Practice"
I utilize it at my job to tackle tough coding challenges when I require a separate environment. It performs excellently and quickly. Definitely a smart buy.
"Superior to a local testing setup"
Codeanywhere lets me create a testing environment in just a few seconds and reach it from any location. It really cuts down on the time I usually waste setting up those environments on my own machine. Plus, it's a great resource for online training, giving me the chance to work with setups I might not have locally. Overall, it's a dependable and useful tool for any coder.

"Best Online Coding Platform Around"
I've been using Codeanywhere for more than 7 years, starting off with the free version and later becoming a subscriber. Honestly, I haven't found any other platform that comes close to what Codeanywhere offers.
Coding online is super convenient for managing projects and working with others. I can connect directly via FTP or SSH, and I love being able to share a live link to my container—it's just what I need.
First impressions of the new Theia-based IDE? It seems like a huge upgrade to an already fantastic platform. I’ll definitely keep using Codeanywhere as my go-to IDE for all my web development needs.

"Awesome Concept"
Awesome concept. There are times when I just wanna tinker with an idea, and CodeAnywhere allows me to quickly set up a development environment and dive right in. After a long wait, they finally rolled out the latest version of .Net Core and switched their editor to VSCode. I still have a few wishes for future updates, like a total overhaul of their documentation, improved port binding controls, perhaps a user-friendly GUI for Git, and an easier way to build and deploy code to an external server. But honestly, the biggest perk is having a fully cloud-hosted dev environment.

"Codeanywhere lets me code from anywhere..."
Codeanywhere lets me code from anywhere (who would’ve thought?!). The option to create virtual machines and environments tailored to your needs is a major advantage, and the constant availability means I can test things without needing to power it up each time. I always suggest this platform to anyone who inquires.

"Adequate Compiler"
CodeAnywhere worked well for basic coding tasks and running code, but when I tried to tackle more complex projects, debugging became a bit of a hassle. Aside from that, I thought the compiler was decent enough.
